MEPS Real-Time, Inc. is meticulously dedicated to following the highest quality RFID standards for our Intelliguard® RFID Solutions and is an active collaborator with the RAIN RFID Alliance, so it’s with great pleasure that I announce that Paul Elizondo, VP of Engineering and R&D, has been elected as Chairman of the RAIN Healthcare Committee. Paul’s election highlights his leadership and vision in the healthcare technology industry. He previously served on the ISO 18000-6c committee, which was a precursor to the current EPC Gen2 standard for UHF. MEPS® was also proud to serve as a platinum sponsor of the RAIN Alliance reception at the RFID Journal Live Conference, which took place in Orlando, Florida in May.
Primer on RAIN RFID Technology
As a quick primer on RAIN RFID Technology: The word RAIN is an acronym derived from RAdio frequency IdentificatioN—and is intended as a nod to the link between UHF RFID and the cloud, where RFID-based data can be stored, managed and shared via the internet.
RAIN RFID promotes the universal adoption of UHF RFID technology in a way similar to other wireless technology organizations including NFC Forum, WiFi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG. Member companies today total 114 spanning the globe.
Learn More About the RAIN Alliance
The next RAIN Alliance Meeting will be held from June 8 – 10 at Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa Valley, 1075 California Boulevard, Napa, California. Beginning the afternoon of June 9 and running through June 10, the RAIN Alliance Meeting is open to all (non-members) and I’m honored to have been selected as a presenter.
If you’re interested in learning more about RAIN RFID and specifically, RAIN RFID in healthcare, I’ll be presenting a session on RAIN RFID in Healthcare: A Prescription for Improved Medication Safety, Reduced Costs and Increased Efficiency on June 10, 2016, at 8:30 AM.
You’ll hear how RAIN RFID is being used to manage pharmaceutical inventory and enable safe and accurate drug distribution within hospitals and health systems. A background of the challenges of pharmaceutical inventory management in healthcare will be described, the Intelliguard® RFID ecosystem and how RAIN RFID is embodied within it will be outlined, and you’ll get a sneak peek at the next revolution in operating room inventory optimization using RAIN RFID.
View the full agenda for the 2016 meeting including details on additional speakers from SMARTRAC, Google, Levi Strauss & Co, Motorola Mobility, Teslonix, DoD, and RR Donnelley and how to register.
Please join me in congratulating Paul on this honor and I hope to see you at the RAIN Alliance event in June.
