Latest Update Improves efficiency of processing medication kits and trays
We recently announced release of the latest version of our Intelliguard® Kit and Tray Management System, Version 4.0. Along with foundational improvements, improved data retrieval and specific customer-requested features, the key impact of this latest version is the incorporation of advancements in both antenna technologies and accompanying software to further improve efficiency of processing medication kits and trays.
Though speed of RFID-enabled kit and tray processing with the Intelliguard® Kit and Tray Management System has always delivered a vast improvement over traditional manual processing, this faster processing time provides even more impressive time savings.
As the release explains,
“Release 4.0 incorporates our most recent advancements in both antenna technologies and accompanying software. This latest release cuts more than 50% off the time it takes to accurately and reliably scan medication and supply inventory in the Intelliguard® Kit and Tray Management System. It is meant to drive every process to maximum efficiency, while maintaining the accuracy required to ensure safe medication inventory processes,” said Paul Elizondo, vice president of engineering and R&D of MEPS® Real-Time.
So what does this scan time difference mean in total time savings?
As an example, in calculating additional time savings for one of our hospital clients processing 3,000 trays per month, the new faster scan time is projected to save an additional 25.74 hours in monthly tray processing time over the 1,222 hours per month already projected using our original scan times. This additional time savings calculation equates to nearly an extra hour a day.
While an extra hour a day may not seem very significant, we know time is a precious commodity. Every minute saved is another minute staff can spend on more value-added tasks or that management can save in overtime costs.
In our ongoing mission to apply our experience and associated intellectual property to drive every process to maximum efficiency, this improvement takes productivity to the maximum level, while maintaining the accuracy required to ensure safe medication inventory processes.
