A U.S. firm has demonstrated the benefits that can be realised from the latest generation of miniature, plastic radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags, by integrating them into their medicines inventory system for hospitals. By enhancing the reading capability of its Intelliguard system to accurately read the new tags, MEPS Realtime has allowed pharmaceuticals to implement a less intrusive, user-friendly packaging solution—cutting the size of the tags used by 69%.
… By optimising the performance of an RFID reader unit attached to an Intelliguard cabinet or drawer, MEPS’s patented technology means each individual item, out of around 200 in a drawer, can be read and traced separately.
